Introduction

ADVENTURES WITH SAKI - AKITA DOG to the YUCATAN

This is a true story of Saki and me on an adventure to the Yucatan Pennsula, in Mexico. He had just made Grand Champion in record time and I guess we decided we needed to get out of town for a while.
To give credit where credit is due, His full name was “Frontier Hyogyn Saki.” I did not give him the name of Saki, his breeder did that, and I guess that as Akitas are of Japanese origin, Saki was a good name. Saki came from the Hyogyn Akitas kennel in California. The owners and breeders were Robyn and Larry LaCourse. This was a very well known kennel at that time and probably still is. Most of Saki’s training for showing was by Robyn.

After our adventure, this story appeared first in The Akita World Magazine. A few changes have been made to accomadate this Site, but mostly, it is unaltered accept for the addition at the end.

Enjoy.
