Tension among people's rights

Deceit, Dishonesty and Abortion

May 20, 2022

The last time we got together I told you stories. True stories of course. But, I like to

The look of a Family..

tell my experiences with the critters, well, it seems that the critters have it together better than their homo-sapien superiors. And, that being the case, we should give them credit for their good example and try to do better because of it.

Now we’ll move on.

Here’s what I have said in the past; I do not believe that abortion is right or moral, while on the other hand, I believe a woman has rights with her body. Or, to put it another way, should one person have the right to dictate to another person what they can and cannot do with their own body? And from here I have thought and re-thought the subject and my position on it. I will leave it up to you to decide for yourself what your position is on this extremely controversial subject.

If I believe that, and it is the foundation for the rest of my abortion beliefs, when does the resident in the womb (fetus) become an individual? That is, it is no longer a part of the Mother but living within the Mother just waiting to meet the world. and hopefully hisor her Dad. And in many cases other members of its new family.

In that paragraph I have established the point of my confusion and apparently the restlessness of the rest. That is, when does the fetus become a person?

There are several things to consider and we might as well consider them now.

Considering that I believe that a woman should have total right to the disposition of her body, as long as she is of sound mind, and as well as a man should have the same rights, we can say by this that we may have all rights, but that rights are limited by how the use of those rights affect others. There again, the courts go back and forth in systematic oscillation in efforts to determine when the fetus becomes a human being and acquires the right to limit your rights. This is not too complicated when just putting it on paper, but in the courts the definitions of the age of humanization becomes as elusive as the chicken and the egg debate.

There are many events in the life of the egg before and after conception, some report 4, others say as many as 6. But bear in mind, nothing significant will happen until the male sperm makes the journey to meet the egg. When this union takes place the discussion changes from her to them. So, the courts have argued that person-hood may occur at any of the steps along this journey. And of course you and I know that they can’t all be right and some would say none are right. And a deep thinker may say that none of them know of what they speak.

But, let’s move away from the “when” argument as in above, and go back to women and men's rights.
