Ukraine, where do we stand?

Part 3 - Is it really our war?

Apr 6, 2023

If you haven’t read parts 1 & 2 go back and read them first.

This will be last in this series, and for good reason. For the life of me I can’t separate the truth from the fiction(Lies). I’m going to do the best I can to tell the truth and factual information, if we find the truth. Even if we do find what we only believe is truth, discussing it is essential. You and I will say up front that we are guessing, based on what ever information we have.

The truth is, it’s hard to define truth from fiction now-a-days. It seems that those who are in charge of the facts and news have practiced so much that they have become experts on making the truth look like fiction and fiction look like truth. What a sad world we live in. So, what I share from here on is opinion, mine.

When I look at the facts that I know, I become concerned and despondent. Concerned because this situation in Ukraine could easily become WW3. The situation is and has escalated to the point that neither side, all of Europe on one side plus the US, and on the other side Russia and China, neither side will be willing to end the war without convincing their populace that they came away the “Victor.” And of course, that isn’t too hard to do because each government will dictate their facts to the media, whatever the acceptable facts are to them, and the media, because of fear of Federal reprisals, executed by any of the Federal Governments many tentacles. We are in a scary spot right now and I don’t see a logical end to it to turn things around. Do the opponents just pull back their troops and go home without a signed truce document and conditions of some sort? Could one side or the other simply say “Oops, my mistake.” Probably not.

A serious factor to consider, a factor that should be considered in the consideration of the war effects not talked about much, is the reconstruction of Ukraine. When this undeclared war that the government has gotten us so entrenched in, finally comes to an end, Reuters estimates that the cost of the reconstruction of Ukraine could exceed $750 billion dollars.

Who do you think will pay this debt? There are a lot of depends, but my gut feeling is telling me that you and I will through increased taxes, inflation as a result of borrowed money in direct support of Ukraine and much, much more to rebuild the military apparatus that was shipped to Ukraine.

So far as I can find, this war has cost the Russians just under one hundred Billion. However, it is suggested that a large part of the money was for ongoing salaries for the Russian troops.

With this in mind, is there a way to convince Russia that this war is not to their advantage? So far, there has been little to no damage to the Russian homeland or the Russian industrial base. What would it take to make Russia feel pain from this war and come to the negotiating table? It would be missiles launched from Ukraine with NATO or USA stamped on the sides. At that point Ukraine will have engaged not only Russia in a highly escalated war, but also China and North Korea.

I believe the key behind-the-scenes player in this war is China. Xi is sitting on his theoretical throne in China with that smirky look on his face that I hate, knowing that as long as Russia can maintain this war over there, that China will grow stronger and the USA will grow weaker. Isn’t it scary to realize that we cannot replace the artillery being used to fight Russia in Ukraine without buying parts from China? While the dollar is going down the tube, the Chinese Yen is going to the moon. Are we stupid or what?

No, we are not stupid, we are just left out of the decision-making loop, because we are not stupid.

It seems that in all wars, at least in the ones that I have observed and studied, that it is always the ultra rich who are the ones who ultimately win. They neither fight in a battle, carry a gun, put on a uniform, struggle through boot camp, place their body in a place where it might be blown to bits or endure the close encounter of the mutilation and tragedy of the front lines. Yet, while someone else is subjecting themselves to these misadventures, they are buying guns, ammunition, artillery and other military paraphernalia and selling it to the various governments for a profit. That is to say, I pray that none of our finest are required to put it all on the line to protect the wealth of the various oligarchs around the world. And Russia and Ukraine have a major portion of them as established by the millions doled out to the Biden family.

My skepticism, I think, is justified based solely on the crud that now occupies the White House, and other parts of rich neighborhoods. Am I sorry that I am that way? Yes I am. I would love to address my country with a shout of pride. I would love to say if my President said it, then I believe it. But what I hear from this president are obvious lies couched in stupidity.

Let’s pray. Pray how you want, but pray that once again and soon, that we can be proud of the country we live in, that we can rejoice in God’s favor, and as individuals, others around the world will find that Jesus is truly the “Way, the Truth and the Life”.

We are left hanging as to what to believe about this war. If you have other ideas, let’s chat.
